Today i spend most of my time eating, i also did some drawing as well but not as much as i would of liked also not a lot relating to the subject im currently on.
Story
My first thoughs on story and world are that it should be set in a fanasty world were creatures have evolved to humanoid states along with humans and other human like factions. These would all have there own connections and links and ways they would react to each other. Also each faction would have technological ideas with humans currently starting on the iron age with metal armour and cross bows and then creatures naturally evolved to not have to worry about technology.
The story idea i got was having a warrior send forward in time during a battle in which they were winning. In the future the world is at its worst with everything being dominated and controlled by this bad collection of creatures and speices.
Sketches
I started today doing a goblin like creature but i knew i shouldnt be starting that until later on, during drawing the goblin i was told that i had a ok understanding of the main muscles but when i draw them they don't look real enough and that i should spend time on looking at muscle forms. I spend the rest of day just drawing male torsos.

Getting Started
Getting started is always the hardest thing specially that you never start at the start you build on ideas way before hand and go "wait a minute this is good i'm gonna get to work on this." This is the real start, the moment you think the idea is worth pursuing.
Im currently sitting with little to do and have this idea i want to build and explore. Lately at university we've just finished studying game documents and making our own which in some ways was good but others bad. But its left me feeling that i should start using my own ideas and placing them into there own game documents and blogging down ideas and reference's for me to come back to for practise and to help me get into a rhythm.
I started thinking of a idea in which i wanted to create a world, a fantasy world, where there are many different types of creatures and most of them humanoid. This was my beginning this led to a idea of a game that would be great to explore and find all these different types of creatures. 'you' the player could then unite all the creatures 'you' finds and then the 'you' win. Basic i know but it soon expanded.
I can remember reading about how MMOs don't have a 'Hero Story' because the stories are created out of player experiences. I liked the idea but i also like playing through a story knowing that theres a reason i'm spending hours getting materials in game to then beat someone. I personally find MMOs annoying because i never find that reward factor specially when your paying monthly for a game like WoW or Eve. This lead me to think is it possible to create a MMO game for the consoles which has a strong hero story without ruining a MMO factor.
I thought of a way of doing this but again this is still early days but when playing in a world couldn't this world be separated from MMO but also joined? say if i wanted to play single player i could and i could spend hours playing through a story with a good outcome but during the game if i felt like i couldn't be bothered to carry on i could link instantly online with hundreds of other players on the same game in a new area that allows player interaction, trading more play e.g. mini games and allowing to accept friends to play with you on you single player. This is were my brain clicked in.
'Monster Hunter Tri' (wii) gave me a good taste of this in a way, I remember playing and collecting all the crap from monsters in single player and still failing to achieve to get the right stuff for a good enough weapon to beat an enemy to get to the next bit. Now on monster hunter players could go online which could be a pain but could connect in a city together and then hunt monsters together. This was great because i could get stuff i wanted with help but it did mean i would have to go back and then face the monster again offline single player. There wasn't any different to online and offline same monsters, same stuff and same missions also there was a cap of 4 players in a team and only 4 could enter a place, you could buy items online but not trade.
For you who don't know Monter Hunter heres a picture:

There is also monster hunter Frontier which is a MMO that i would like to play but unavailable for me to get. But going from what i saw and played monster hunter had potential to be so much more with this new cool environment, cool monsters which were life like all it needed was some tweaks. My idea uses those tweaks and turns them into massive changes and maybe impossible to do but thats what thinking out of the box is and future of gaming changes so quickly by the time i got the idea running it might be able to work.
I want to create a world were you can enter in and out of cities, these cities are online MMO based cities with players free to explore, meet, buy and trade and also allowed to be invited back to you game so you can recruit help if needed. But these mechanics will have to fit in context of story, characters, environment, world, environment, game type and more . These are my next steps. I know that for a lot of this research would have to be done in order for the game to succed in the market but im just throwing ideas together and developing on them so im going to be keeping market research to the bare minimum.
My next post should be on game story and thinking of a story and a world that would throw me into a vast pool of stuff like characters and elements i would need to do which i think will be fun.
